Renegade Writing: London’s Faux Fascias

This Is My Costume speaks to BLAG about its decade-long initiative refashioning abandoned shops.

When I first noticed unusual fascia signs popping up on the route of my Stoke Newington Ghostsigns Walk, I was immediately intrigued. Later, I learned who was responsible for the work and was delighted to finally write up the project for the second issue of BLAG.

Three years on, and with that issue now sold out in print, I'm sharing the story here for digital readers, including some additional photos that couldn't be squeezed into the original feature.

For nearly ten years, a London sign painting collective has been refashioning abandoned shops with their fun, and highly personal, designs. For the very first time, This Is My Costume spoke with BLAG about the initiative, which has been kept lowkey since its inception.
