Letterheads News
We're now just over six weeks away from Letterheads per L'Horta in the picturesque surrounds of Almàssera, València, Spain. The event has evolved into a very international affair, and if you're feeling impulsive, the dates are 1–4 May.
There are also workshops happening in parallel to the main event.
Also, looking further ahead, save the dates for Burds of the Brush Berlin, 5–7 September 2025. Follow the dedicated instagram @burdsofthebrush for updates, and check out the report from last year's Bristol edition.
Workshops Update
Having just wrapped up his latest home fixture in Chester, Iowa, Mike Meyer's attention is now cast towards his forthcoming European tour. This will be his first trip across 'the pond' since 2019, and you can catch him on tour in Belfast, Berlin, Brussels, Copenhagen, Milan, Nottingham, Prague, and Valence (sold out).
As always, there are recurring workshops listed on the page at bl.ag/learn, and here is just a selection of forthcoming events:
- Dublin, Ireland: Sign painting workshops for all levels with Vanessa Power.
- New York: Kenji Nakayama and Peter Liedberg are teaching an introductory sign painting workshop at Noble Signs in June, and Ken Barber's Lettering Tricks & Techniques is running at the end of April.
- Portland, Oregon: Bryan Yonki's Spring workshops are now booking, and there's also a four-week sign painting course with Kirsten Bauer.
- San Francisco, California: New Bohemia Signs have bookings open up to August this year.
- Tokyo: Check out dates this month and next for Peter Liedberg's sign painting classes.
- Winterthur, Switzerland: Brigette Jaggi is offering a variety of lettering and sign painting workshops across the year.
Time for Talks
If your appetite was whetted by the Beverly Sign Co. feature in BLAG 06, then you'll want to sign up for this talk (online and in-person) from the book's authors Kelsey and Andrew McClellan: The Golden Era of Sign Design.
Here are some more talks, which are happily all available to online audiences:
- Online: Drawing on Pop Culture with Gerard Huerta, 18 March.
- London/Online: Piet Zwart: NKF and the New Typography, 1 April.
- London/Online: Letter Exchange lectures, monthly upto and including June.
That's a wrap for this latest worldwide events roundup. As always, please send details of your own and others' events to sam@bl.ag.
All good things, Sam
